HANDELSBEURS - Historical heritage again open to the public

The Handelsbeurs in the center of the city Antwerp was for years a public meeting place, known for its monumental crossing between the Lange Nieuwstraat and the Meir. During the 16th century the building was the mother of all fairs. However she burned down completely twice and was rebuilt every time. At the end of the 1990s, the Handelsbeurs lost its function as a stock exchange that was transferred to the Brussels stock exchange. The building has been vacant since then and the historic building was closed for security reasons. Luckily the city of Antwerp decided to reopen this beautiful building. The Trade Fair on the ground floor will become a public transit and meeting space where events can be organized in a unique setting and will have space on its floors for meeting and seminar rooms. Finally, they planned 5 stat hotel that will open in the spring of 2020 next to the building.
