The Besloten Hofjes are the absolute highlights ofthe Collection of Heritage in Mechelen. These 16th-century altarpieces made by the nuns have been registered as Flemish Masterpieces since 2011. The sisters meticulously created their so-called 'courtyards' with representations of an ideal, spiritual and paradise-like world.
